Testimonials

By Former / Current Swan Players

Swans Hockey brought back my love for the game, a key part of that was Coach Ray Monroe. Throughout my career, I've never had a coach care more about making every girl that stepped into the program the best person and player they can be. Swans is a very competitive team that brought me joy everyday. Swans allowed me to build confidence and be challenged. Every year I improved and developed due to his coaching ability and the experiences I gained from playing talented teams. Coach Ray Monroes knowledge of the game and trust in us as players allowed me to really strive towards my goals. During my recruiting process he was honest and supportive every step, make sure where I wanted to go, was where I ended up, while also reminding me to be patient and not to question my worth. On top of that Coach Ray Monroe was always willing to reach out on my behalf when no-one else would and was a key part of my commitment to Hobart and William Smith. I owe so much of my hockey career to Coach Ray and Swans Hockey. Everyday I am so grateful for the 4 years I got with such an amazing coach and program.

Being part of the Swans for the past seven years has been one of the best experiences of my life. Playing on the team was something you had to work hard for, and it pushed me to improve every season. The competitive environment helped me grow both as a hockey player and as a person.

As a goalie, I found my love for the game through Coach Ray Monroe. He always made hockey fun while still teaching discipline, confidence, and perseverance. His positive energy and belief in me helped me enjoy the sport on a deeper level and made me excited to keep coming back. He creates a team environment where players feel supported and motivated, and that made a huge difference for me.
Coach Ray puts so much time into helping his players succeed and always pushes us to reach our full potential. Because of his coaching, I have built strong skills, learned important lessons, and gained confidence both on and off the ice. I would not be the player or person I am today without everything he has done.

The Swans gave me many friendships, memories, and a true love for the game that will stay with me forever. I am very grateful for that and can’t wait to continue playing for Ray!

Playing on the Swans felt like a privilege as it was something you had to work for and earn because there were so many girls who were trying out. Coach Ray Monroe brought motivation and energy to his players at all times. His knowledge of the game, commitment to excellence, and the amount of time he puts in for the girls are three qualities that stood out to me. Coach Ray helps girls build their confidence as the Swans face high-level teams. Throughout my time on the Swans, I was able to improve every year. With this improvement, Coach Ray was a huge help when it came to the college recruiting process; he helped me decide what schools may or may not be the right fit and then got me contact with the schools I was interested in. I would not be where I am today if it weren’t for the things I have learned from Coach Ray, both in terms of life and in the sport of hockey.

Playing for the Swans has been an unforgettable experience for me. As a part of the first-ever Swans team, I have been able to enjoy many years as a part of this program. My time with this team has led to countless friendships, cherished memories, and progress towards my goals. One thing that I have valued the most from being a part of the WC Swans, is the guidance and tools for success given by the coaching staff. Head Coach Ray Monroe and many others have been instrumental in my development and success as a hockey player. Their support has helped me achieve my dreams of playing Division 1 Ice Hockey at the University of Vermont. From day one, Coach Ray has always believed in me and pushed me throughout my journey.

From setting high standards, advocating for me, or providing guidance, I know he's always had my back. This goes for every player within the WC Swans program. Taking the time to get to know each player, having a great team culture, and providing players with the right tools is what the WC Swans pride themselves on. Between the level of competition and positivity on the ice, players can have fun, as well as improve their game. Playing for the WC Swans has given me some of the best moments and memories in my career. Not only that, but also allowed me to grow tremendously as a player and teammate.

Our Mission

WC Swans Girls Hockey, established in 2019, is committed to providing a positive, development-focused environment where young athletes grow not only as hockey players, but as confident, resilient individuals. Our mission is to create a fun and challenging atmosphere where players strive for their fullest potential on and off the ice.

We are dedicated to guiding athletes who aspire to reach the next level. Having experienced the challenges of navigating the college recruitment process without support, we ensure that no player feels alone—we provide mentorship, direction, and the resources needed to succeed.

Through skills training, skills camps, exposure camps, and tournament play in highly competitive, heavily recruited events, the Swans empower players to develop, excel, and pursue their goals with confidence
